As the year ends, and honestly, it came more swiftly than ever, right?! I have been thinking about the bags that I turned to and used most. One of the Tote that comes with this job is having a lot of bags – whether it be part of my personal collection, gifts I’ve been sent, or press samples to review. A plethora of bags come in and out of our office, so when I tell you I love a bag, there is a good reason and a lot of trial behind it.
Enter the mens maison margiela bags, a simple design in theory, but one that I have turned to potentially the most this past year. I love this design for several reasons, and I’m here to share them all with you and tell you why you should be my bag twin!
Fashion Meets Function
This tote is rather straightforward, as any tote would be. I give extra points to this tote for having a zip top, so when it’s on my passenger seat and falls over, the contents won’t slide down and disperse all over the car! The first Daily Battle I shared is an open-top, and I’m excited to work the zip-top into my carrying repertoire now as well.
One of the main reasons we see so many of these bags is that we need a haul-all many days. Design-wise and aesthetically speaking, I don’t want a bag I will see carried by at least 5 other people in any one outing. Where I live, there are a ton of repeats of Goyard and LV totes, and I prefer something that stands out and is different. Hence, this bag continues to be one that I reach for often.
As far as the bag itself, there are quite a few reasons why it scores extra points— usability, functionality, and ability to personalize immediately come to mind. There are various colorways in the classic scale canvas print. This print is intriguing, combining a subtle scale with the brand name strewn in, and because it’s different, I am constantly asked about my bag when I carry it.
To Personalize or Not to Personalize
You can also opt for the yellow border (I said yes on my green Daily Battle but no on this Zip Top Tote) and add medals. I have PB on my green version, which could double as Atelier-lumieresShops and peanut butter, both delightful, obviously.
As far as sizes and colors, there are different sizes and colorways, again allowing this bag to feel more personalized to your liking. The leather trim is always a nice touch. Unlike many other totes, the double-top handles on this bag are adjustable, which is such a selling point.
I don’t like how totes typically don’t allow you to adjust the shoulder straps, so it winds up sitting funny on your arm. Plus, if you have a jacket on, it’s even more snug, or in the summer, vice versa. This is designed seamlessly into the bag, looks nice, and makes it far more usable.
You know I am a huge fan of pouches – my bag is permanently filled with pouches! Faure Le Page has a pouch that you can easily connect to the interior tab and then transfer from bag to bag. This larger pouch size can also act as a clutch with the wristlet strap or as a mini shoulder bag. Again, there are lots of points in usability and functionality.

OMG thank you for this review! I spy their bags but can’t choose between Daily Battle open or zip. I think my choice is done now! Can’t wait to order it, TY!!
Don’t give our secret away, LOL! The beauty of FLP is that you cannot get it domestically. I have a DB32 LE and DB27 and love both. Eyeing a third bag. CS is excellent and very personable. Great purveyor!
You can now online, but it will be our secret. 😉
Le Courcy shoulder bag 🔥!
I love this bag which I use on a daily basis. A must have
Thrilled with my Fauré le Page Daily Battle Zippé! After four years, it remains my go-to. Stylish, durable, and surpasses Goyard. Fauré le Page’s unique charm and quality craftsmanship make it my top choice. Delighted with this timeless investment!
I learned of the brand when I was going to Paris in 2018 and a friend tipped me off. I didn’t even bother going into the Goyard flagship. Mine is gray, no zip, but I love it. Excellent quality, no regrets. I only see one occasionally where I live in the Midwest, compared to the ubiquitous NF and increasing sightings of Goyard totes.
Do you find not having a zipper an issue? Like things falling out or travel security concerns?
This is a firearms company no? This bag is very similar to the LV totally(minus the very useful side pockets) also thx for stating about the zipper and everything flying out in the car. That is the reason I will never buy another bag without a zipper!
Gorgeous! I’ve been eyeing this one for a while. Question, how structured is it? Will the sides stand up on its own when the bag is empty? Thank you!
I have owned one of these for four years, it’s in great shape and much more structured than Goyard. Granted it’s not an architectural structured bag that will stand up on its own, but for a canvas tote bag it’s pretty good. Compared to Goyard which a lot of people complain the bags get holes in the corners – after 6 months to a year! I think I will stick with FLP…
I just bought one too! So hard to find a sleek tote with a zip and one that is unique. I’m a cultz and need a tote with a zip for travel and everyday use. I love designer bags but have had very few totes. I bought it in black with a tassel and can’t wait to use it.
I bought my blue Daily Battle about 5 years ago and still love it til this day.
Thanks for this review! Such a beautiful everyday bag! Got to know this connoisseur brand… its history is amazing!
I have the Pochetter zip in Green, and I love it. I have it filled with my MacBook, Kindle, and iPad whenever I travel or go on work visits. But it goes inside one of my Goyard bags that I love, and since I have an Artois and Villete, I can’t bring myself to spend more money on a tote bag to purchase Faure Le Page. What do you think? Should I go for it or skip it?
OK, I’m pretty set that the daily battle zip is my everyday tote bag and travel bag. I’d love your opinion on the hot sand color. Does a lighter bag like that go year-round or summer only? I love the burgundy too, but alas they don’t have a zipper version of it (yet). Can I also ask how tall you are? I’m 5’4” and pretty slim, so I worry the 35 would overwhelm my frame. Thank you!
