Our new Boavista jeans are made from raw indigo 11.5oz selvedge denim (100% organic cotton) from Portugal. The five-pocket western style is a high-waisted straight fit.
We’ve finished the style with smooth antique brass rivets, and a branded pull-up leather back patch and included the characteristic selvedge stripe on the coin pocket.
Typically a yard wide (approx. 91cm), selvedge denim is made on traditional old shuttle looms, which takes time, but produces a tighter woven, harder-wearing fabric with a sealed edge, usually with a distinctive red and white stripe.
The fabric will lace-embroidered to your shape and gradually develop individual, unique character over the years. The selvedge runs straight down the outer seam of the leg creating the characteristic shape and a clean sealed seam.
